Our Writers

We are a small, yet dedicated team of writers and editors who strive to bring climate news to the forefront of peoples minds.

The following is a list of our dedicated staff members, however we also occasionally invite guest writers and environmental experts to submit news items.

Keith

Keith is the lead writer, and heads up the team. Keith is passionate about the environment, and can frequently be found going around our office turning the lights off.

These days Keith tends to spend most of his time split between ensuring the quality of our content, and keeping his ear to the ground to get the latest scoops on environmental news.

Chris

Chris is the next in the chain of command, and whenever Keith is off chasing a hot story, Chris is in charge.

Chris has a strong background as a writer, and also has a keen interest in all things environmental.

Alice

Alice is one of our writers, and she is most interested in the renewable energy side of things. Alice also acts as a deputy editor.

John

John has a special interest in eco cars. He loves nothing more than researching into the latest in environmentally friendly transport systems.

Pete

Pete is the newest member of our team, and is both a writer in his own right, and a supporting researcher for the rest of us.

  • Wind Energy production coming from Cape Wind


    For nine years Cape Wind has been attempting to receive government approval to build the first U.S. offshore wind energy production facility. It appears that despite opposition from many quarters the plant will finally be approved.

    Cape Wind will generate around 1 half gigawatt of power. That is just 1/50th the electricity made by an average sized nuclear plant. Opponents to Cape wind cite this relatively small production as well as the aesthetic results to the area in the Nantucket Sound as reasons to not grant license.

    Yet U.S. President Obama has recently signed off on off the coast of Florida drilling for oil as if huge oil leaking platforms were no environmental threat. The world and in particular the United States is covered with a tattoo of telephone wires and concrete ribbons. Placing 130 Wind Vanes miles offshore will not affect beaches or boating. It will set guidelines for safe and effective wind energy production in areas where the land masses are too developed for conventional wind farms.



    Wind farming requires large amounts of land. This is no problem in undeveloped agricultural areas but we shan’t be placing wind vanes on top of the Empire State Building. Offshore there exists an endless amount of acreage for wind farming. In Europe these "wide open spaces" have been used for energy production for over ten years.
