The American Association for the Advancement of Science has issued a report stating that global warming and climate change are so much a matter of scientific fact that the United States must now refocus part of its energies from greenhouse gas emissions to dealing with the effects of global warming. The AAAS claims that these effects such as early season meltdowns and rising seas along coastal areas are now of such proportion that planning for their eventuality is long past the opportunity stage. According to the AAAS, climate change effects are blatantly manifest.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science is a globally recognized and respected body that serves as an educational networking arm for 262 affiliated scientific organizations which include 10,000,000 people. Their purpose is to promote accurate understanding of scientific conditions worldwide.

A panel from the AAAS has released a report warning the world that the effects of global warming greenhouse emissions are underway and that protectionary measures are now called for.
The panel has advised that the over abundance of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere has placed surface and ocean temperatures on an upward curve resulting in ocean acidification, dead zones, glacial meltdown, animal and plant life disruption and ongoing weather extremes. These extremes are indicated by current examples of precipitation variances in which high precipitation areas are seeing greater rainfall (and snowfall) and dry areas are faced with drought conditions. The AAAS panel further advises that these extremes are set to continue and escalate though the 21st century.

Suggestions for dealing with climate change effects are centered around green building with emphasis on water and energy efficiency. Other suggestions from the panel reference crop changes for areas affected by loss of precipitation. The overall suggestion is that water use plans must be adapted in both urban and agricultural settings.
